She borrowed the kimono from her cousin. The kimono was a little too big for her but she looked lovely in it; a very elegant and classy combination.
従姉から借りた小紋が少し多きめですが、大変にお似合いな色でした。上品なコーディネートですね。

size of the old 昔の大きさ
This bridal "tateya" obi style is very large in size compared to what is often seen today. A couple of decades ago, this size was the norm. Old maru-obi are very luxurious and expensive; thus heavy, stiff and inflexible. Obi styles were therefore much simpler and attention was given to showing off as much of the surface as possible.
大きな花嫁用の立て矢ですね。古くから着付けをなさっている先生がいうには、一昔前はこれぐらい大きく作っていたそうです。昔の丸帯は豪華で高価なものでした。それだけ帯も厚みがあり堅かったものです。堅い分だけ結びはシンプルに、豪華な面をより多く見せる分だけ大きく結んでいたようです。
